Tasteful Sides for your Plant-Based Holiday Gatherings
Who says holiday meals have to be all about the ham or turkey? In our opinion, the sides are the best part. Especially when each serving is packed with 10mg of our Barista Blend ;). CBD Cranberry Sauce:
Will you do yourself a favor and ditch the canned cranberry sauce already? You and your family knows it sucks. This cranberry sauce recipe is made with real cranberries and freshly squeezed orange juice! Give this traditional side dish an upgrade by incorporating a few scoops of our CBD powder.
INGREDIENTS:
8 scoops of Barista Blend
1 cup sugar
½ cup water
½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
12 oz fresh cranberries
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS:
Bring sugar, water, and orange juice to a boil in a saucepan. Add cranberries and cinnamon. Bring to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally for about 10-15 minutes, until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Add in 8 scoops of Barista Blend and stir. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve!

CBD Pear Salad with Dried Cherries and Candied Walnuts:

Although the holidays are usually a time to indulge food-wise, it’s always a good idea to have a healthy side salad that people can eat to help balance out their meal. Get your guests’ mouths watering with this decadent pear salad with dried cherries and candied walnuts. You may want to print this one out, because we already know your Great Aunt Jeanine is going to want to keep this one for her records.
Ingredients (yields 6 servings):
For the Salad:
- 2 6oz bags of mixed greens
- 2 ripe Bartlett Pears, thinly sliced lengthwise
- ½ cup dried cherries
- 2 cup candied walnuts
For the Dressing:
- 6 scoops of Barista Blend
- ½ cup balsamic vinegar
- ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 medium shallot, minced
- 1 pinch sea salt and black pepper
Recipe:
- Add all dressing ingredients to a jar and shake vigorously to combine. Set aside.
- Add greens, one of the sliced pears, dried cherries, and half of the walnuts into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with a bit of dressing and toss to combine.
- Plant and garnish with remaining pears and walnuts, and share with remaining dressing. Enjoy!
Plant-Based Gravy:

Get that mashed potato boat ready, because you’re gonna wanna pour this gravy all up in it. If we could drink it straight from the bowl we would, but we didn’t think that would be appropriate to do in front of our relatives. Don’t be mad if there aren’t any leftovers.
Ingredients (Yields 8 servings):
- 8 scoops of Barista Blend
- ¼ cup & 1 tbsp whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup nutritional yeast
- 1 ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- ¼ tsp rosemary
- ⅛ tsp thyme
- 2 cups low sodium vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt to taste
Recipe:
- Preheat medium sized saucepan on medium-high heat. Add all dry ingredients except Barista Blend to saucepan and whisk for 30 seconds.
- Whisk in the veggie broth and soy sauce until all ingredients are well combined.
- Lower heat to medium and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat one more time to low, let simmer, and whisk to thicken.
- Remove gravy from heat once it reaches your desired consistency. Add in Barista Blend, stir, and serve!
